Description
The Great Gatsby, F. Scott Fitzgerald's third book, stands as the supreme achievement of his career. This exemplary novel of the Jazz Age has been acclaimed by generations of readers. The story of the fabulously wealthy Jay Gatsby and his love for the beautiful Daisy Buchanan, of lavish parties on Long Island, is an exquisitely crafted tale of America in the 1920s.
Through the narration of Nick Carraway, Fitzgerald explores themes of decadence, idealism, resistance to change, social upheaval, and excess, creating a portrait of the American Dream at its most illusory.
An absolute masterpiece. Fitzgerald's prose is beautiful and the story captures the essence of the American Dream perfectly. A must-read for anyone interested in classic American literature.
Great book with rich characters and beautiful writing. The only reason I give it 4 stars is that the pacing felt a bit slow in the middle. Still highly recommended.
Re-reading this for the third time and I still find new details to appreciate. The symbolism is masterful.
